I was chatting with a friend of mine about her daughter who is sick. I sure hope she feels better soon and I know how worried she is for her daughter. I don't know what it is lately, but so many people I know are sick or have family members who are struggling with colds and flu (or worse) lately. Wherever you are, I hope you're staying safe, happy and healthy!

It got me thinking again though about plants and herbs and wanting to grow a bigger garden again this spring, and how something seemingly so simple could be so healing in a natural and gentle way. I suggested to my friend that she find an herbal store in her area and get some Lemon Balm tea for her daughter. It's one of those soothing plants that when you're sick, if you cannot even keep down water, you'll be able to keep down Lemon Balm tea. One of my favorites, and if my friend were not halfway around the world I'd go out to my yard and snip her some fresh leaves and brew a fresh tea for her now.

It's a strange thing the synchronicity of the universe. My thinking about herbs, and being given this beautiful herbalists outfit and hair from Fantavatar & Moonstruck!! Here is the Violante dress in purple and I just LOVE it! I did have to edit the sleeves to be small enough for my avatar since I'm short, but once I got it adjusted I just love how it fits.

It comes with two belt options, one plain or this beautifully detailed herbalists belt with pouches, fresh herbs, a little knife, and little scrolls. The dress also comes with a modesty shirt, but I couldn't get mine to rez well for the photo. And the hair... oh the hair!! Fantavatar and Moonstruck is now making hair! The braids and tendrils and wonderful silk ribbon details are color change. I love this style... called Medieval 006.

I love the way Fantavatar and Moonstruck send my deliveries in this cute little cart. Just gets me all in the mood to go adventuring. Now.. you may have noticed this beautiful skin I'm wearing. This is Anna2 from Chandelle and I just love it! I will be doing a more in-depth review of this skin soon, so keep an eye out.

Rose Colored Jackets

The new Sugar hair by Tameless is beautiful. I love how it drapes across my eye, framing my face with smooth and silky shine. As always, Tameless hair comes with color change built in, including highlights, which I love.

I'm wearing G Field Bolero, Lace Shirt, and Alex Strap Shoes, paired with the divine Moto leather pants from Fishy Strawberry, and Tameless piercings and lashes. Polishing off the look I stopped by the Tropicalia Bazaar II on the Purple Moon sim and found the Ludicia skin by Filthy, Dorothy Cat Eye glasses by Purple Moon, and poses by Art Body Store and Wet Cat. LOVE this skin by Filthy. The lips are kissable and not overglossed, and the eyes are lovely, with delicate almost petulant brows.

The Cat Eye glasses are really great and are color change in all parts of the frame between brown and orange, with shades of opacity for the lenses to achieve your perfect look. Another feature with the Sugar hair from Tameless is the braid attachment, which I am wearing here draped over my fabulous Survivor jacket by SEY. I'm in love with SEY jackets and the only thing that could make them better is if they were Mesh (nudge nudge... ok beg!). My go-to jacket of the season, it's hard to part me from my red Survivor jacket. Even inside. Next to a roaring fire...

Rose colored jackets are the tune of the day, and here I sweeten the sugary look with the R.icielli Stefani Rose Blazer and the new Chrissie hair by Tameless. A playful ponytail style, I'm digging the "bangs in my face you just want to reach out and brush them back from my eyes" look.

Tropicalia Bazaar II is home to the Tropicalia Magazine office upstairs, where you can browse past covers of the magazine on the wall, posing hopefully to be scouted out as the next hot star. Adding some edge to the look, I choose the R.icielli Alexandra leather jacket in (pick me! pick me!) red. Gotta say, these Moto leather pants from Fishy Strawberry are really scrumptious! And when I'm not using a mesh viewer and licking my divinely crafted Maitreya mesh leather leggings... I'm prancing around in these lovelies.

Now, this jacket looks amazingly like another jacket in my inventory from Stars Fashion Mall (blogged here), and when I looked closer I found that the base sculpts are, in fact, the same, and most likely from a kit. Some people may shy away from designs made from sculpt kits, but it's the personal touches, the texturing and additional details that a designer adds, like this one from R.icielli that make it stand out as a great design on its own.

Friday the 13th

Are you superstitious? Friday the 13th may be considered an unlucky day by some, but for me it's the lucky day that I am able to blog about a good friend of mine, Jake Selene. We were out shopping for jeans at INDI Designs, when this look transpired.

When I saw him standing there in the window I jumped out of my skin and screamed.... Stop!!!
Let me get my camera! *grin* Friends like Jake are one in a million, which trumps any kind of Friday the 13th unluckiness, and I'm lucky enough to count him as one.

He patiently stood there, embraced by the chill winter scene seeping through the windows while I took these pictures. The raven... was an afterthought, and I hope he doesn't mind... I didn't ask if he likes ravens, but it just seemed so at home there on the shoulder of his Lapointe and Bastchild S'Wear Leather Jacket.

A Lot to be Happy About

It's a great thing to be Happy! Today there's a lot to be happy about... especially if you're shopping at the {Happy} store. I had not heard of {Happy}before, but was tugged along to go shopping by one of my dear friends. From the moment we arrived, I felt a breath of fresh air that lifted my spirits, starting with the happily crafted signage over the entrance.

{Happy} carries some delightful things, sure to lift your mood! I found the lovely blue Flirt shirt with ruffled collar, the Vive cuffed pants, and Argyle tights there.

Take a peek and see if something brings a smile to your heart, like it did mine. It's a New Year... and hopefully a Happy one... but if things are getting you down, scoot on over and don't worry... Be {Happy}!

Alexohol Dreams

I'm basking in the winter light that slants through my windows, trying on the lovely clothes from the very talented and generous AlexandraM Guisse of Alexohol. What shall I wear today....

I slip lithely into the Dreamy Winter Sweater, and Class Act Dress Pants, topping them off with my Roce Lace Jewelry and Alex Strap Shoes from G Field. Mmmm very nice!

The Vanity Affair dress in Navy suits my introspective mood. Classy, elegant.... (just like me! haha!)

Wandering down to the dock I breathe some fresh air, stretch and strut around in the sleek MESH pencil skirt from Alexohol, which fit me perfectly without having to alter my shape. A shrill whistle pierces the air as a speedboat races by.

Feeling a bit flustered by the dock encounter, I slip back up the stairs and into the Hot Cider Sweater and Flirtini Skirt. Mmmm... wonder if he would have stopped his boat instead of just whistled if he had seen me in this!

Ah but the Dreamy Winter Sweater... I loved the feel of that neckline and the way it draped gently across my shoulders... And I adore the fluffy poufs of the Flirtini Skirt.

With a quick flick of the wrist, and a wry smile, the clothes fly from the closet onto my skin in a flutter of fabric. Delighted, I prance about in this incredibly fun and flirty "Party Girl Dress". I love the flounce of the skirt! I'm ready to dance!

It took a little work.. but with the help of shops like Alexohol, I'm all set for the party! Thank you Alexandra... and Mwah!

Waxing poetic today in the lovely Stella cocktail dress by G Field complete with matching hair adornment. I admit, I went a bit crazy at the G Field Red and White sale, with 50% off on all items of those colors found in the store. But when I saw the Rose Lace Jewelry, also at G Field... sale or not... I had to have it! My shopping partner was a bit aghast at my shopping flurry and quoted me as being "high as a kite". Perhaps she's right... you can get high on shopping right? I certainly was!

I'm a huge Dressing Room fan, as many of you know. The dressing room is a discount store that highlights some new and often exclusive color releases from some of Second Life's finest designers, at intro prices that won't break the bank, and are great for filling up your closet with high quality go-to pieces. Often I drop by to see what is new, and look for great deals on clothing, shoes, accessories, skins, and hairs.

This week is no exception. Your Skin & Your Shape has long been showcased at The Dressing Room, and again I am wowed with another YS&YS beautiful skin. Perfect for my current wintery mood, the Ginerva skin in "Winter" in a special makeup shade for The Dressing Room. I adore the muted powdery skin, and delicate lips.

Also found this week at The Dressing Room is the beautiful Charis sweater dress by Baiastice. I just love the sculpted drop shoulder to this sweater.

Carriage Trade

Some friends lured me away from work and took me exploring today, to a roleplay sim called Carriage Trade. Thank you Leanna, Mera, and ArtWolf!

If you're in the mood for a Victorian/Edwardian Equestrian village, this is just the place.At the landing point you can find a free Edwardian gown and hat by Debutante, and there is even an outfit for men.

Wearing our visitor tags, we met Ivy Myst, and Moonsorrow Magic, our two guides, who led us on a lovely carriage ride tour.

Carriage Trade is home to many Equine avatars, and Ivy informs me there are other animals as well as some humans. They hold many weekly events, races, and foxhunts, though no animals are ever harmed of course. It's all in good fun.

Go take a trip over to Carriage Trade for some delightful vintage shopping and experience a new community of friendly and very helpful roleplayers.

Strolling along the Jersey Shore, winter teases along the waters edge with feathery touches of snow...

I'm wearing the lovely new vintage Georgette Lace Cocktail dress by Connors and I love the way the fabric moves with the tiered skirt draping delicately from the thighs, accentuating my hourglass figure. The delightfully lovely rosette tie detailing nestles at the back, adding movement and furthering the vintage appeal of this great dress.

It felt so perfect to tie in the rosette detailing from the back, by adding the LULU rose necklace by Donna Flora.

Stepping into perfect pair of footwear for my stroll I added the stylishly well-turned ankle boots by Bax Coen.

Postcards from Venexia

I want to thank the lovely Isabelli Anatine for blogging about the new Venexia sim. In her blog, she describes a place of such beauty, and architectural embellishment... I was lured to go closer to take a look, vampires or not! Perhaps you will find yourself drawn there as well.

When my friend Leanna and I arrived at the sim, the place was swarming with activity, and so many incredibly dressed avatars. Though, I admit we both felt a little intimidated by the whispers and stares, and shadowy characters lurking around every turn, so we hurried to grab our visitor tags before we loaded into the gondola for our ride into the heart of the city.

It's simply amazing, this place... the textures, sights, sounds, smells. If you're just looking for a place to take some photos, you can't ask for a better backdrop. And if you're interested more in joining the roleplay, there's absolutely no lack of compelling avatars to interact with.

Now, this is a new experience for me, because in all my years in SL, I've never had the opportunity to review a package from a designer before. I was quite surprised to log in and find this wonderful gift from the designer of a shop called [aberrant].

A very warm ~Thank you~ to the very generous Dylain Nikita, owner and creator of [aberrant], who sent me some wonderful things to keep warm this winter. I adore this Red Plaid Knit Scarf with the cute little skully pin accent. Snuggled up in the Long John Shirt, Fingerless Gloves, and Scarf from [aberrant], I'm ready to explore the snowy slopes at Wolf Mountain Ski Resort.

Just one more layer... the red Hunter jacket from SEY, and I'm all set for adventure in avalanche territory.

Just had to have another scarf for my collection, so I found more at [aberrant] and ran home with the Skully scarf. Mine!!

Kyoot Fall Look

Thank you to Neida over on The Fae, The Faun and the Wardrobe for the heads up about these beautiful cozy sweaters on sale for 50L Friday over at Kyoot.

I sort of fell into this look when I chased the 50L Friday bus over to Kyoot and fell in love with the beautiful Cozy Sweaters. There's still a little time left to Friday so if you're fast you may still be able to get these in your favorite of four colors. I had to get them all, and the super Kyoot zippered corduroy pants as well.

All layered up and ready for some refreshing autumn trail riding with friends! I really love the horses from McLean Horse Farm. So far, there are only two to choose from, but they are so much more realistic than others I've seen out there. Something about the eyes on these that I just love! Go check them out and see what I mean... Oh, and they're only 750L so they won't break the bank.

Newbie Style Challenge Too!

I heard about the Newbie Style Challenge on Shayariel's blog and though, why not! I love a good challenge...

The idea is to create a new look, with a small budget of under $550L (approx $2.50US). In my case I spent only 1L, but what Gogo suggests we don't stick with only free items. I think I'll take her up on that and do a few more looks. Read more about the Newbie Style Challenge II on the Juicy Bomb blog.

On the Juicy Bomb blog, you can also find a special link to a site that still lets you register new SL avatars with a last name!! The list of possible last names is short, but for people who like to express themselves in a more individual way, it sure beats being lumped in the "Resident" surname.

First on my mind, when I landed as a newbie avatar, was ... Get me an AO fast!! I remembered that Amacci had a great starter AO for newbie avatars under 14 days old and rushed over to find it in the Poses and AO's section. At Amacci, I was also delighted to find they had a beautiful group gift skin, and eyes, and hair... all for free!

If I were helping a new avatar find a nice look fast, Amacci would be one of the first places I would go to. The other place I go is the fashion blogs. Searching around through my RSS reader, I did a search for "shape" and found this great little shape at ANATOMY available right now in The Mushroom Hunt.

While at ANATOMY I noticed there were a bunch of signs for other groups and current hunts and so I joined a few of these groups. From those, I started getting group notices about other free items, and saw one come across from Sascha Frangilli about her beautiful Bella Azure Gown, which is currently on the Marketplace as a Promo for only 1L.

Another favorite stop was the game room at Sn@tch. Here I was lucky enough to be able to get the Pavo Peacock Earrings, the Rough Rider Boots, and the Brocade Dress (it comes in a 4 color pack) all for free!

While trying on various outfits, another group notice came out for some freebie items and a sale at Ironik Kitties. Here I found the Zakeria pink leopard print dress, and the Orlenna outfit that I borrowed the purple fur from.

I really enjoyed this challenge and the chance to visit some new places like Ironik Kitties that I had not heard of before. Sometimes life leads us down a path and we just have to jump in and see where it goes! It my case, I was excited to find a way to make a new avatar with a last name! That alone was priceless to me...

Utopia... the name conjures thoughts of a world of perfection, timeless beauty and youth. Well that is exactly what I found today when I discovered the beautiful Utopia Mainstore.

I saw a woman wearing an incredible blue gown while out shopping today.. and just *had* to ask her where it was from. It was simply stunning, and the way the fabric draped and moved with her was so lovely. She graciously gave me the LM and I flew fast as I could over to Utopia. Now, Utopia is a new-to-me store, so for those of you that have already heard of it, it will be no news to you the simply stunning quality of the designs, for both men and women. Leaning to formal high fashion gowns, there are also some etheral designs that would lend themselves very well to a fae, elven, or fantasy persona. And men... the suits... to die for! A Falling Feeling

It's feeling like fall at The Dressing Room. I admit, I'm addicted to shopping at the Dressing room and it's often first on my list to stop by each week to see what's new.

This week, I snatched up the Cozy Knit Sweater by So Many Styles, dressed it over the White Tank by R.icielli, and paired it with the Fishy Strawberry High Waist Pants in Tobacco, and my favorite Maitreya Moon hair.

While searching in my inventory for a pair of boots, the synchronicity fairy dropped a group notice on me about the gorgeous Slouch Boots at Prim & Pixel. The fatpack was such a steal I just had to have them all, and settled on the Red for this outfit.

To top of my autumny mood, I snuggled into the warm wool scarf by Purple Moon.

Try not to look at the last date I posted a blog on this site... well darn you looked. But it's okay, see, I've been blogging over at my other site here, and working in a few other virtual worlds, but still come back to enjoy the fashion world of Second Life, even though I've been uninspired about blogging.

That is... of course... until Mesh came on the scene. And now I'm helplessly, hopelessly enmeshed, entangled like a mermaid in a lucky fisherman's net. I just can't seem to get enough of it!

Here are a few pictures of my mesh-seeking crusade across the grid.
I think my favorite Mesh find of the week has to be the fabulous "Fabria" gown by Rebel Hope. The blogosphere has been burning up with this hot item... and I had to go get one for myself. I just *love* the classic feel of this gown. Here is the Fabria Gown by Rebel Hope, in Magenta, with the sheer ruffle option. Love love love how this dress moves with me!

Nooks and Crannies

And now for something a little different! I made a harp! Yeah I know... totally out of left field huh?

So... what's gotten into me?! I have been working hard at creating new hairstyles, but had hit a rough spot in the design process as the last two wigs just didn't "feel" right when I got them done. While waiting to get suitably inspired I managed to injure my back working in the barn, and well, it just plain hurt to sit too long at the computer. That put a bit of a damper in my style... but now I'm back in the saddle and inspired to make something I've never attempted in all my years in virtual worlds... A harp!

Gee a harp. That can't be hard right? Well it may look simple, but there are lots of little details like strings and pegs... with 36 each of those, well it's not easy to keep the total prim count down.

I managed to complete the harp, and a nice chair to sit on for a total of 114 prims. Woot! I wanted nice smooth curves and a rounded back soundbox.

Not as easy to make as it was to imagine, because I like a bit of the realistic approach. My soundbox had to be hollow, and it had to show the strings poking through, and I wanted nice oval shaped access holes in the back for changing strings. Now, I just need to figure out how to do a sound loop and add some of my original music into it, but that will be down the road. And I need a good harp playing animation...

So, having been a Celtic Harpist in real life for over half my life, why did I never make a harp back in Second Life? Mostly because of the prim limit. I was usually only able to afford a 512 sq meter lot, which allows only 117 prims. At a total of 114 prims for the harp and chair, that would eat up a big portion of the prim budget. Have harp, who needs house!

That's one of the great things I love most about InWorldz and opensim grids... the higher amount of prims we get to play with! Another thing I love, besides the clothes and fashion... is that we can open up a shop or business on a shoestring, literally pulling it out of thin air. It's just a dream waiting to happen for anyone with a creative bone in their body. And with no upload fees, it's great for people just starting out or wanting to try something new without a huge expense.

Here I am wearing the gorgeous Valdora gown by Boaz Sands of Simply Fae, standing next to my new harp, and toying with the idea of opening up an odds 'n ends store called "The Nookery" where I will get to play with some of my more oddball ideas that don't fit into either my other shops. And yes, I am wearing men's hair again. I don't know why I've been on this tom-boy kick. Must be the hot summer temperatures. I just love how playful I feel wearing it, and and yet still feminine.

A Stellar 4th

Just hopping in real quick to let you all know I'm back from vacation! RL has been plowing ahead full steam so I have not been able to log in much this week, but when I saw the word come across the wire that Stellar had a new group gift out I hurried over to grab it and share with y'all. That's right, I said y'all. I'm feeling spunky today.

Lexi Morgan of Stellar has created a great pair of shorts inspired by the good ole U.S. of A. If you hurry you can get your own pair but they're only out on July 4th, at the Stellar Mainstore on Emsland. While you're there, why not go whole hog and get the great sneakers and baseball shirt as well. I've always loved and admired Lexi's talent and touch with details.

And now on a more serious note.... to all my friends in the United States, wishing you a very happy Independence Day. I'm thankful for the multitude of freedoms we still have, but also this year more than others, aware of so many of our friends around the world that are losing their freedoms. Be thankful for what you have and remember how you got it.

Paraphrasing a quote that my boyfriend recently shared with me, from one of the more historically insightful moments:

"I will always love the elusive dream of our nations founders.... freedom coupled with spiritually aware responsibility to self and others, and no ruling class... How do we spend our spiritual energy and to whom do we pledge our sacred honor? If anyone is unhappy with some part of our society we are given 4 "boxes" to change it.... A Little Sightseeing!

I'm so excited! Here's a machinima of the special project I've been working on. I made all the hair in this video!

Not only have I been exploring in a re-creation of the Medieval City of Rhodes and making hair for a really great project working with the Kingdom of Demolay creative team, but they've just come out with a machinima trailer highlighting everything we've been working on.

It was fun being part of the actors in the making of the video. At one point I was a young teen man roller-skating around the piano in the park concert scene. Another time I was the goalie in the soccer scene. Go Yellow! Also played the skateboarding girl in the pac-man-esque hedge maze game. I think we all had way too much fun helping put this together, but all the machinima credit goes to Ariella Furman of FramedIn3D.com who did a fabulous job on it! So since we're going through the virtual video scrapbook, I figured I'd also share a few of my sightseeing pics that I took yesterday after I finally got my imprudence to let me see shadows! Woot!

How does all this sight-seeing relate to fashion? Well aside from the hair that is (check the video!), fashion is small portion of our virtual experiences. Yes, it is part of how we express ourselves, but in and of itself it is nothing without the actors, the audience, and the stage on which we all play upon. Here's to all the stage-makers, the dreamers of dreams, and the creators of worlds. My hat's off to you!

There's a new hair shop in town!

I am excited to announce the Grand Opening of my new hair shop, Destiny Hair, at Noon on Tuesday, June 7th in InWorldz. Why a Tuesday? Because it's my RL Birthday! I can't think of a more fun way to celebrate with you all and have fun with some new hair!

In the spirit of FUN, I will also be holding "A Wild Hair" hunt from June 7th to June 18th in and around the shop and garden, with a collection of hair in some wild new shades.

The Follow

It was a dream come true for Talia Fournier, who with her beloved Jack and an incredible community of friends and fans at Equinox InWorldz, hosted the best live concert I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy in any virtual world, bar none.

We're talking about "The Follow", and if you don't know who they are, take a listen to this video on YouTube, or visit their Facebook page here. Then go to the closet and get out the belt and whip yourself for not being there!

Jim Tarber lead the way into The Follow concert at Equinox tonight, spinning tunes from The Rock Party. I missed most of it though, having some severe clothing malfunctions.. as in a naked lower half, even though I had on a huuuuuge black poofy skirt on my screen. There are pics out there saying otherwise. No, I'm not showing them to you!

But there's nothing that could have kept me from coming back, naked or not, to catch this show. In a word - I N C R E D I B L E! You truly had to be there to understand.

The Follow played to a packed house at Equinox of Inworldz, where dancers moved to the music among a surreal steampunk setting.

Troy and AJ Rickertsen, and Mat (Powers) Matlack put their hearts and souls into a show that rivaled Pink Floyd, with strong overtones of U2 inspiration.

A Little Peek

Just a little peek to show you some of the new styles I've been working on for the Teen Hair Project.

Try as I might, it turns out I just couldn't get my InWorldz hairstyles to export to the other grid (perhaps my very slow DSL internet connection). So after about a week of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, I suddenly got the brilliant idea to just make new styles!

So far they're going over well, and I'm expanding my skills and really getting into the theme of a medieval city and styles that might fit in better there.

So this past week, I've made four new styles! If all goes well I'll figure out a way to import them back to InWorldz and share them with everyone.

When I come up for air and sneak out of my studio, it's great to get to explore take in the sights.

The project is coming along great, and I've really been enjoying my little artisan vacation, playing tourist in the medieval city of Rhodes while I've been away from InWorldz. It has brought a new perspective to my work, a breath of fresh air, and I've enjoyed meeting and working with another great group of talented people.

A Little Break

It's hard to believe ten days have flown past since the last time I wrote, but my latest project has been taking quite a bit more time (and technical headaches) than I was expecting.

For those that do not know, I have recently begun to create hair, with the intention of opening a new hair shop in InWorldz. I've had a bit of a learning curve, learning how to make every bit of my styles from scratch, including all my own textures, taken from photos of my own hair, and all my own sculpts.

Having never made hair before, it's been quite a learning experience, and I've found that it's much much harder than it looks! For instance, in order for me to recolor any of my styles to other shades, it would be impossible for me to manually do this. With all the alpha sides, especially on my flexi tendrils, it would be a nightmare to even try to recolor one style, much less recoloring it in the 24 shades that I have created so far.

So about a month ago I enlisted the help of Anna Debruyere, who if you have not heard of yet, is the great mind behind the InBiz unofficial InWorldz Business Directory, as well as the Exclipsex ATM system. She was such a delight to work with, and even walked me through some very basic things I had not known about how to find a face on a prim, and how to find my texture UUID's, to help me in configuring the script/notecard system she created. If you ever need some script-work done, I highly recommend Anna, and Eclipse Scriptworks! Please tell her I sent you.

Well, procrastinator that I am, I didn't get around to recoloring the 3 styles that I had created in the months prior, and the new male style that I just finished. So I've been working busily away on those this past week, in anticipation of finishing the "Teen Hair Project" I've been working on for another Opensim grid. My deadline moved forward by about a month, due to an event they are holding this weekend, so I've been rushing to complete at least those 4 styles and ads done so they had something to offer their teens and new advisors on this grid.

"What grid," I hear you all asking. Well some of you had a sneak-peek at it a few weeks ago, when Jane Fosset wrote about it in her blog post Hypergrid Sailor II on her Metaverse Sailing blog. It's really a rather incredible build, with a great group of builders working hard to bring it all to life, and I'm delighted to be working with them, even if only in a small way, by creating some of the hair styles that they'll be offering free to their teens and residents.

I should have known not to do the bulk of my work on Friday the 13th. It was one major technical problem after another, compounding into quite a mess, and as of right now I still have zero styles moved over successfully to this other grid to show for all the effort. It's more than a little disheartening. But, it's a learning experience, and for that I am grateful.

To top off my already discouraged feeling, I just logged into my Blogger account to find that my new "Destiny Hair" site that I just created a few days ago has been removed. Now, I don't know how these things are usually done, having never lost a blog before, but not to receive any notification in my email and to leave me just hanging on a question, "Why?" is just a little too much for me to handle at this time.

So, while I get all these things sorted out and complete my task of importing my 4 newbie starter hairs over to the other grid, I'll have my hands quite full and will not be doing much in the way of posting on this site. My goal is to determine what's going on with the import/export issues and move those styles over within the next few days, then work on the other 4 styles that I would like to have completed for that grid, in all 24 colors, and then *finally* get my Destiny Hair shop open here in InWorldz, before my birthday on June 7th. If all goes well!

Here's just a little sneak peek at the styles, in case you missed them before my new hair blog was taken down. I'm new at this, I'm learning, and hopefully growing into something that people will enjoy wearing. I want to make people happy. Perhaps a bit too much of the "people-pleaser" in me. So if you see me making something that's just "Ew!" please let me know, and I'll do my best to learn and improve. Thanks!

Southern Belle Fashion Show by Allure

Allure Modeling Agency produces "Southern Belle" a Fashion Show in InWorldz

With much anticipation I awaited the date of the Southern Belle Fashion Show, to be held in InWorldz, and produced by Allure Modeling Agency. I had heard of the fashion show, sponsored by Rowland Larkham of "Morning Coffee" through several group announcments, blog posts, and also through a friend of mine who's gowns would be featured in the event.

Unable to attend the beginning of the show due to a prior engagement (see here), I arrived at Bella and located a seat among the crowd of other fashion lovers.

Apparently, there was a bit of lag, commotion, crashes, and last-minute changes of venue before I arrived, as reported here by Scarlett Qi of InWorldz Network News. I cannot say that my experience was near as bad as hers sounded.

When I arrived the lag was fairly minimal, with the models taking it all in stride with poise and confidence, though they had to walk through the stage rather than on it, and at times needed to float above it. I was impressed at how cool and level-headed the production was, with encouraging and smooth announcements by Raven Dulce, CEO of Allure Modeling Agency.

Unable to both walk and chew gum at the same time, I found myself struggling to both take pictures, and keep notes on who was wearing what, by which designer, as the chat flew by. As soon as I track down the names of designers for the other gowns, I will add credit to the captions. Apologies in advance to the Designers, and thank you again to Raven Dulce and Allure Modeling Agency, for another engaging and professionally done show. Bravo!

It all seemed to go by so quickly, in a rush of swishing gowns, mysterious glances, and flourishing grace. I regret missing the other lovely designs that started the show, but I hope my photos help bring to life for you a most pleasurable day, in the spell of the Southern Belle.

Leanna's Surprise

It was set! The plans made, notes passed, arrangements made, agreements whispered. It was the day of Beltaine celebrations across the grid, but unbeknownst to our lovely fae friend Leanna, it was also the day that her sweetheart had planned a magical surprise birthday party for her!

Bradd Laval went through every effort to create a magical experience for his lady love, Leanna. The setting was upon the serene shoreline of Atlantis, dancing upon the sparkling waters upon partially submerged mosaic floors. He hired Prowess Rayna to perform the magical music that Leanna so much loved, and she waited patiently beside her piano while the guests arrived.

When the time arrived, *boom!* teleport after teleport of friends bringing friends all to surprise Leanna and wish her a happy birthday. She fainted with surprise! If it were not for the swift and steady reflexes of Bradd, she might have fallen into the sea and surely put a swift end to the celebrating.

One by one they arrived, bright smiles and hugs and lavishing of gifts to the stunned and deer-in-the-headlights Leanna. I am not sure when she realized that Prowess was there to play a concert just for her. Could be about the time of the second thud, as she fainted once again. I can't be sure though, so don't quote me on it.

The music wove a delicate tapestry more felt than seen, as dancers swayed and twirled, margaritas tipped, champagne sipped, and cheesecake and other culinary delights ooohed and ahhed upon, when suddenly, a voice stronger than the heavens, and yet more gentle than the caress of breeze upon blossoms echoed. It was the strong and yet vulnerable voice of a god, and yet a man, professing his heart for his beloved Leanna. It was the sharing and the offering of self, and the questioning of acceptance. It was Bradd, asking Leanna to be his partner!

As thuds sounded around the room, the sound of jaws dropping, one could also hear the growing pound a heart, coming from the diminuitive and incredibly beautiful Leanna. None had such an idea that a fae's heart could beat so strongly! But there it was, echoing the sound of waves crashing to shore, as her sparkling eyes looked up to his, and hands clasped hands in a rush of pure joy with actions that spoke louder than words. It was her voice answering his, her heart matching his own as she accepted!

And then they dance! Oh! How they danced! Feet barely skimming over the waters, as cascades of emotion and waves of delicate music danced with them, hovering over the waters of Atlantis. Twas a joy to behold!

Leanna and Bradd, may the strength of your hearts be the Beltaine fire to warm each other's souls. Congratulations to you both! It was an honour to be witness to such a moving and special moment. And Leanna, Happy Birthday!

Trippe'n Fantastic

Some days you just want to kick back, get comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, and a nice comfortable pair of shoes. I mean, we can't run around wearing ballgowns and high fashion every day, now can we? Well yes, we can! But I was up for a change and nothing in my closet was calling me, so I went shopping! Nothing new there right? Here's what I found...

While out and about, I found a great pair of jeans at Comfort Clothes, and the pretty lavender top, and also picked up a pair of denim flats. The shirt has lovely shading and cute little buttons in front, and the jeans are nicely textured and come in a long or capri-length style with sculpted cuffs.

Ahh, feeling much better already! So did that stop me from shopping more? No, I'm afraid not. But here's the good part! I stumbled on a little gem of a shop called Trippe'n and here's where things get all exciting! Flats, flats, flats, wedges, pumps, boots, clogs, oh so many fun things and all for just pennies! And there is a good scattering of free and group gifts around the store, just take a look when you're there.

I met the lovely Tia Trippe at the shop, who dropped by to thank me for my purchase and ask if I needed help with anything. It was then that I spied the stairs to the second level, where the animations are! I tripped up those stairs so fast I put the road-runner to shame, and oh my, if you've been wearing a tired old AO and you want to update some of your poses, this is the place to be! For only 10-20 I'z a pop, I grabbed them up so fast it was starting to sound like a casino in there. Be sure to look for the little freebie box of poses from March that's still there. Shhh I don't think she knows. Hurry!

Tia graciously informed me that these introductory prices will be going up after May 1st! So do what you can to rush over there and snag some incredible deals. And even after May 1st, prices will be higher, but she also told me that nothing in the shop will be over 100 I'z. Thank you Tia! She is also able to do custom animations, so tuck that bit of info away if you think you might have need of that, I know I did! All poses shown today are by Tia.

All in all, it was a Tripp'n fantastic day, and I'm giddy with the infusion of new fun shoes to my closet. Keep an eye out at Trippe'n for more fun deals to come, and if you join her update group, she has a pair of clogs coming out as a free gift tomorrow! \0/

Truly Enchanted - A Concert by Prowess Rayna

I had the incredible pleasure to be whisked away much to my delight and surprise, to an amazing concert by the incredible Pianista, Prowess Rayna.

I don't mean to get all superfluous with my descriptions, but truly, Prowess' music is beyond description. Hers is an art to be experienced live, and an experience from which you emerge somehow changed, more beautiful.... Truly Enchanted.

If you have the opportunity to listen to her perform live, I highly recommend you do! Her art and talent with the piano set such a healing and ethereal mood.

I had been wanting to hear this artist perform at another event, but was unable to go the last time, and I'm so thankful to Leanna and Bradd for teleporting me to enjoy the show. Thank you my beautiful friends!

It's times like this that put the magic in virtual worlds, and this event, simulcast in both InWorldz and Second Life, was indeed magical. The concert was held live at Fleure's Enchanted Corner on Falathrim in InWorldz.

Fleure Homewood has provided a magical and delightful venue for celebrating the arts, and in addition to the concerts, if you explore a bit, you will find a beautiful art gallery.

Busy Making Mistakes

I do this disappearing act whenever I'm working on a new project. This time, I was sitting around the fire at Midsomer in InWorldz on Monday with Leanna talking about how I wanted to make a new dress. We got to talking about flowers, and I was pretty sure the design I wanted to do would be springy and flowery.

While chatting about fabric options, I came up with the bright idea of just wandering out into my yard and snapping a pic of some flowers and making my own fabric. I mean, how hard can this be right? So, here we go, flowers. Now.... how to make a dress from this? I loaded it into Gimp then went wild with applying filters until I had a springy floral print in a nice blue color.

If you think taking a pic and turning that into digital fabric, and then making a virtual dress out of that is easy, I suppose it could be. being a do-it-yourself dressmaker has its good points, but it's also rife with a mess of mistakes and do-overs and not much to show for yourself during the in-between times. So yeah, that's pretty much what I've been up to. A whole lot of mistakes and do-overs.

The first attempt at fabric came out pretty decent, untill I messed it up doing the shading for fabric folds. I was going for this gauzy gathered at the shoulders roman goddess kind of look.

Hmm... not even close. In fact, this attempt almost made me completely run for the hills, throw away the keys to my shop and give up on digital fashion design. Ugh.... not pretty!

So back to the drawing board! I completely scrapped that top, played around with colors a bit, and started with a new design, this time a midriff baring, long sleeve, gauzy top tied at the front.Getting closer!

I like the overall feel and shape of this top, but it needs a lot more work on the shading to make it look and feel more realistic. The elbow creases for instance, way too dark, but I'm beginning to really like where this is going. I played with the hem of the skirt fabric, not wanting a boring straight line, but a subtle wavy hemmed edge.

Good so far, except now I've got the dreaded "alpha" issues to deal with. Hmm, not sure how to fix that so it may be awhile until this dress is finally done. You can see in the picture below what I mean, where you can see the "edges" of the other skirt panels showing through because of alpha issues (If there's anyone out there that knows how to fix this when using an alpha texture, please let me know!). I may just end up taking the texture back to a boring flat bottomed line, but ugh, not if I don't have to.

Ok, so I thought, why don't I try a sculpted skirt. I like this idea! Well at first anyway. It wipes out the dreaded "butt crack of doom" issue that you get when making a flexi skirt over a pant layer. Why not use a system skirt you ask? Because in all the 4 years I've been in virtual worlds, I've always HATED the big butted waist-gaping system skirts common in SL and most other virtual worlds. I refuse to buy them from vendors, (yeah, that means Nicky Ree, much as I love her designs, please drop the system skirt) and I sure as heck don't want to make one to sell. Yes I know you can wear a "no butt" shape to help reduce the "too much junk in the trunk" effect, but it still is not enough for me. I'll just have to keep trying to perfect my skills and make it work another way. Mesh, now that would be something. But that is neither here nor there, so here we are.

So here we have my attempt at a sculpted skirt, flirty, frilly, fun, great for a photo, but not for moving around in virtual avatar life. Once you hop off the pose stand and actually move around, walk, lean over, anything at all, it looks horrid.

Sculpts, as you know do not move at all, it's just like wearing one of those "cone of shame" hard plastic cones that the veterinarian puts on your pet to keep them from messing with their stitches. Hmm.. maybe I should wear one of those instead. I'm definitely messing with my stitches and still more stitching to go before this gets to the "I like it" point, if I can be so lucky.

Last Leanna heard from me was Monday morning before I skipped off with my camera. She probably thinks I'm a bad friend, not even saying hi when I've been online the last few days, but it's just that I get a project going and it's all I can seem to focus on. Like a dog, chewing a bone. I get an idea and then I hound it until I can finish it. Well, here we are, days later, and I'm still at it. Most sane people would have just given up by now, thrown their hands in the air, grabbed the virtual wallet and zoomed over to Snowpaw to buy up the 3 gorgeous new dresses she announced. Hmm... I may still do that!

But for now I'm still working on the details of making my own creative pixels combine and cooperate in a way that makes me say... "Yeah! I like that!", and I get that tingly feeling that says I've done a job well. I'll keep you posted on the progress. For now, it's back to the digital sewing machine with me.

Stitch Me Happy

When I heard that Aria Therin had released some new things in her shop Stitch, I rushed over to Harvest Moon to see for myself. Here's what I found... and just in time for the warmer weather!

I instantly fell in love with her cute summery sundress "Talia", and its pretty crochet accents.

If you haven't heard of Stitch yet, it's because Aria has been working hard behind the scenes to help bring the Harvest Moon sim to life, and has also been working on her other store, Therin Homes.

The second dress, Ella, puts me in a summery mood, ready to hit the beach! I've paired it with the sweet "Jewel" sandals from Coriander. Just love these. Stitch is sure to be a hothouse of talent, and so far, you can find some ultra cute summery dresses, pants and bathing suits. Go see!

Next is the ultra-cute "Miss Black Cherry" dress by My Lolita with cute Mary Jane shoes and socks included. I just love how fun this outfit is! I would have taken a pic of the great corset and victorian bloomers, but my graphics card was acting up. You'll just have to trust me that they're gorgeous!

The super-talented Talia Fournier has branched out from her Paparazzi skins and clothing store and opened the super fun gothy girly store "My Lolita" with her main location on the Harvest Moon sim. Check her out and keep an eye for more exciting styles from Talia.

Lastly, we have a mash-up look of various things I threw together, inspired by the stockings and skirt in the "Calamity" set from Stellar. I just love the fun sheer stockings with the rolled-down sculpted tops. I've paired them with a new pair of Angelica boots from iNEDIT, a new store also found on the Harvest Moon sim, near Stitch. I didn't much care for the top that came with Stellar's Calamity set, so I mucked about in my closet and pulled out a white tank from Sassy! and the Charming sweater by Envious that can be found in the freebie store on InWorldz Desert Island. Lastly, I snagged my Bette Long Necklace, that came with a dress of the same name, by Adored.

Of course, the Hair! All styles shown today are works in progress by me, for my upcoming "Destiny Hair" shop. As soon as those go live, I'll be sure to let you know. I hope something here has tickled your fancy, and I'll be back next time with more looks for your InWorldz shopping pleasure.

Shock and Aww

A few of you have noticed I've been a bit absent of late. That's because ever since Friday afternoon, to our delight and surprise, we are now home to three bouncing beautiful new kids! Kids of the furry variety, that is. I'd like to introduce you to Bailey, Billy, and Buttercup.... my new kids!

They came into this world a little bit earlier than I was expecting, and yet, I think their timing was perfect, and just in time for a weekend of snuggles and hugs and lavishing of all kinds of attention. One of my friends said, "You should blog them"! "On a fashion blog?" I wondered out loud. To which they replied there was never a bad time for cute baby goats. I think I have to agree!

So here you go, if you're wondering where my time is being spent lately, just take a look at these faces and see if you don't feel the pull of the snuggle magnet. Please excuse the blurry pics, it's so hard to get these cute little bundles of joy to hold still.

Awww... don't you just want to scoop them up and hug them? I do!

Wish Come True!

It's been a few months waiting patiently for the talented and very busy Ophelia Rose of Wish Hair to open her doors. The wait was worth it! In that time, she built an incredible new mainstore on Harvest Moon and a gorgeous flowery meadow surrounded by all kinds of wonderful shops to explore.

The crowds started flocking to Wish when word about the Grand Opening went grid wide.

I fell through the floor but didn't let that stop me from my shopping frenzy. I quickly made my way to the "Haylee" hair and faster than lightning hit the buy button for the Reds pack. Mine!!

I really love the hair dye bottle the hair comes packed in, and the supercute animation it has when you wear it to unpack. Careful though... don't get it in your eyes! Oh, and note to self, try not to pour your champagne down your back next time.

Don't let bad hair days get you down. Hurry over to Wish and make a wish come true. Viola! Gorgeous lustrous shiny new locks, made with "locks of love" from the talented Ophelia Rose. Thank you Ophelia!

Whole lotta ketchup

Alright so it's catch up time! I've been a busy little party animal, hardly getting a thing done, except for having loads of fun in InWorldz! Thought I better post some pics of all the action, so I can pretend I'm actually working.

So the last few days we have been gearing up for the big grand opening of the Harvest Moon sim. Started off with a great little impromptu party at Jack and Talia's new flagship main store for Paparazzi, My Lolita and Dream e'Scapes.

Things got more than a little wild when the camel came on scene. That's the elusive and ever enchanting Ophelia Rose of Wish Hair.

Those of us without such gorgeous rides resorted to our bouncy balls from Abranimations.

Of course the super stylish Talia Fournier of Paparazzi and My Lolita fame stole the show with her crazy rabid squirrel dance. You kinda had to be there.

You're really going to love the new Miss Baby Blue dress by My Lolita! Her shop is open as of today and if you hurry you can find a great pair of pink Mary Jane's at the entrance. Also, all Paparazzi skins are on sale at 1/2 off this weekend only, so don't hurry to fast as you pass by, and make sure to grab the great giftie on the counter!

After all the fun at the Lolita-Razzi party, I was more than a little hung over, so first thing in the morning I was whisked away to Midsommer for coffee. Mmmmm, great way to start the day!

We got to playing around with the new hair I'm making and even got Maxwell to try it on, though it's hard to see in the pic because his head was so big.

He quickly took it off saying he didn't want to upstage Whiskey by wearing better hair than hers. Chivalry is not dead! But shhhh don't tell Whiskey he said that! (We miss you Whiskey! Come in and play with us!)

Mera looked great in it, almost like it was made for her.

I loved it on Leanna as well, with her cute fae ears poking through. Be sure to tell her how pretty her dress is or she'll whack you with that marshmallow stick!

All that relaxing got us well rested and ready for the big Grand Opening event at Harvest Moon, where we danced the afternoon away to tunes by DJ Maxwell Wildcat

The lovely Aria Therin made an appearance but wasn't feeling so well so did not stay long, but wow what a great job she and Ophelia and Elliot did getting the sim ready for the party.

Harvest Moon has some beautiful shops available still, so hurry on over if you're looking for a classy place to showcase your product. You won't be disappointed, and do take the time to explore around a little.

Walk through the lush meadow and forest paths, along the streams and past beautiful waterfalls. Enjoy a the sweet little coffee shop with the deck out back and views of the ocean. Stroll along the boardwalk shops and circle back around to the Meadow, the lighthouse, and Wish hair.

So many things to list, you'll just have to go see for yourself. There's a great little shop in view of the coffee shop called the "Infosnug" where you can find all manner of wonderful freebie items from the generous merchants of Harvest Moon. Thanks so much!

Hair Fly

So by now, you've probably all heard that Damselfly has opened a sim in InWorldz. And yes, I'm still holding out for Truth hair to make their appearance. But for now, hooray, new hair!

I know... why am I blogging about a hair place when I'm going to be making hair? Simple... it's what I do, blog about new stuff, fashions, styles and hair in InWorldz. That and it's so hard to resist new hair. Just helping out my fellow hair-flys. You know you can't resist, either. Just sayin.

There has been a steady stream of customers every time I've gone to Damselfly for a visit. Here we see Gia Capalini and one of her fellow models from Allure Modeling agency, browsing the goods and filling up their shopping bags.

I've selected two styles to share with you; Lexandra and Lavynder. Both are wavy styles, though the Lexandra is a longer, fuller style, and the Lavynder is a great wavy shoulder length style.

I purchased the "Mixed" color packs so I have six colors to enjoy from all the major color packs. Have to admit though, I'm still not thrilled with the red shades from Damselfly. But being a natural red-head I'm a bit picky. Still, there are some lovely styles from a talented creator who has been making hair on the SL grid for years. Plenty of wonderful things to choose from here!

Keen-eyed Leanna Caerndow was quick to point out that they forgot to remove the "AVN" from the signage. Oopsie!

Upon landing at the main store on Damselfly Hair Salon sim, turn around and you can see that construction is underway for the "Dragonfly Skins for Life" shop.

Hurry on over to Dragonfly Hair Salon to see what's new. And guys, don't feel left out! There are a few great styles for men as well, though most are the longer variety, there are a few short styles to choose from. They are all mixed in with the ladies hair though, so you have to explore a bit.

Allure Fashion Show - Mardi Gras InWorldz 2011

The good times were rolling in InWorldz yesterday. Mardi Gras was a whirl of entertainment, events and celebrations. It was easy to get lost in all the commotion and events, but one event in particular really outdid them all, for me, the Allure Fashion Show. I had the pleasure of attending Allure Modeling Agency's very first fashion show in InWorldz on Mardi Gras. Let's let the pictures do most of the talking!

Produced by Raven Dulce of Belissima, and her poised and elegant models, the show got off to a rough start with lag, but eventually after moving to a less impacted sim, went off without a hitch. It was very professionally done and a most engaging show! I really enjoyed it.

I've taken a few pictures to share with you, all completely un-retouched (I just don't have the time!), but the styles and talent shine through.

Featured at the show were designs by M!raMode, Durga Design, Haute Couture, and Couture Chapeau, with poses by Morgane Batista. Bravo ladies!

Cat's of California

I'd like to highlight a new shop today and share with you Cat's of California and a few of the great things that Cat Jules has made. The first is a beautiful gown "Madame Mardi Gras" that she just finished, for Mardi Gras. Look how glamorous!

I'm in love with the feather details, the glimmering gold fabric, and the multi-colored Mardi Gras beads. Hurry over to Cat's while it's on SALE! In her words "it is 1/2 the usual price because it was so late." Nice! Thanks Cat!

If you're looking for a stunning gown for your Mardi Gras celebrations, take a trip over to Cat's and find her "Madame Mardi Gras" gown, and as the French would say, "Laissez les bons temps rouler," “Let the good times roll!”

If you've ever been to the Island Style shop on Orky in InWorldz, you may have stumbled across Cat's shop tucked off to the side. At first glance it looks like part of Island Style, but Cat's is just starting out and I'm sure will be expanding soon. Watch this space!

It may look like there are only a few items, so it's easy to miss until you take a closer look at what she has made. Her sign lists "Portrait Studio, Fine Art, Photographic Equipment", but completely skips over the great gowns she makes! So I'm here to help make those more obvious, and hopefully help encourage shoppers to find her, and help another starting designer to keep on doing her magic.

So far she only has two gowns in her shop, and her fabulously detailed camera, which comes included with pose so you can really play the part next time you're out sight seeing or doing a model photo-shoot.

This camera was designed for Lydia Cremourne of the pose shop "Posture Perfect" but Cat has it available for sale in her shop on Orky. Look at all the great features! Love that wide angle lens.

Smile for the camera! This is definitely a shop I'll be watching closely to see what new creations Cat offers.

Pink Shirt Day has spread to our little corner of InWorldz, thanks to a post by Mera Kranfel who relayed the information and touching story about a young Canadian boy targeted by bullies on his first day of school, story on Honour's blog. Thanks Mera!

To show my appreciation for this great cause, and because I'm a big softie always looking out for the underdog, I'm sporting pink in a big way today. My quest in the search for pink on the grid was further triggered by a Twitter post by Leanna Caerndow who wanted to find "pink clothes IW that aren't either tarty or barbie".

In this look, I found a fabulous pink casual flowered sweater at Indie Rose, and paired it with the great sculpted 2-tier skirt from Sassy, leopard print stockings from Random Rosie, and Volo shoes by Coriander. Hair is the lovely Felicity by Ophelia Rose of Wish! Skin is Ethereal by Talia Fournier of Paparazzi, with Everyday Lashes layer by B[u]Y Me! A little fun pose "Kill Bill" by Lydia Cremourne of Posture Perfect. Look out! Hoping this comes across as neither "tarty" nor "barbie". Either way I had fun with it!!

My Sweetheart - Tesoromio

There's a sweet new clothing store in InWorldz called Tesoromio, which means "my sweetheart". And sweet it is, and so is the designer, Nirmanakaya Yalin.

Visit her shop Tesoromio on the Capricorn sim and find this darling Blue Lace dress, right next to the group joiner board. It has an optional short sleeved lace jacket, or you can wear it without.

There is also an adorable pair of pajamas for both men and women as the Valentine's gift there, but unfortunately my viewer was acting up and I was not able to get a photo for you.

While browsing the shop, I found a few more great things to take exploring to Equinox. This flirty flowery dress just had to be mine. So springy, and I love the little sweater. Great for the transition to spring, when it's still a bit chilly out.

Did you know the snow has all melted, the ice is no more.. and spring is coming. Bit by lovely bit, the flowers are blooming. There are cuddles and hugs tucked here and there to enjoy with your sweetheart. I hope you go see Equinox as it transitions through the seasons. It's a magical place!

Another outfit, I'm pairing the purple capris with the violet hoodie pullover. Ok not all the snow has melted. If you're wandering up in the hills there you might want a sweater!

Ever since my computer died and ate my hard drive, I've been feeling like the creative wind was taken right out of my sails. So yesterday, when Botgirl Questi posted some creative inspirations on Twitter, I finally pulled it together enough to start a new design. I know, about time, right?

I've been working on a new little dress that I would like to finish before Valentine's day, and while I've got the textures mostly completed, I'm having a bear of a time getting the skirt to link up. In short, it's not. I gave up last night and now all day I've been sneaking back in to try to link, to no avail. Perhaps I'm trying to hard and need to let go and let Muse take over. Perhaps I should have made it in black and grey as an "Anti-Valentine's" dress, which seems to be popular these days. Maybe I still will. Or maybe I need to just scrap it and start over.

For some reason, whenever I try to stand on a pose stand while in "busy" mode, my viewer takes me on an imaginary field trip to the far corner of the sim, under water, with my ankles up around my ears, surrounded by all kinds of other forgotten sim junk that seems magnetized to go to this very spot.

Makes it very hard to build anything, but the trick to get back out (even though you're not really there) is to try to click yourself into appearance mode and then back out. Then *poof* your viewer should snap you back to where your av really is. At least, usually. Sometimes it then shoots you off somwhere into space with a nice ocean view, and pretzel legs. *Sigh* Well, at least I'm getting a good stretch!

So, the dress, let's just call it "Muse", is coming along and may or may not end up looking like a lampshade, though you could wear it that way I suppose, on your head, if you want. I suppose I could make it touch on/off for light. Muses.

Feeling Sassy!

There's a great new pose shop in InWorldz called Posture Perfect that I'm just thrilled to share with you. Lydia Cremorne is the very talented creator of some fabulous poses that I hope you'll enjoy. Drop by her shop to try them out. She has a great selection of freebie poses as well.

I've been meaning to blog a few great items that I won at the Fashion Show at Paisean Faisean. Really, I had the hardest time getting anything to rez at the show, so I didn't get any good photos to blog about while there, but it was a great time getting to know some new people, and just being there to support all the hard-working designers that came together to put on the show.

As a fun little interlude, they held a Trivia contest and as prizes gave out some incredible gifts to the winners. I got 4 questions correct and won some great new outfits! I also won a 50 I'z gift certificate to Mer-Elf Creations. Fun!

Here I am wearing the abso-freakin-adorable outfits by Sassy! Up first is the Cutest Little Sweater, yes that's the name, I'm not making this up. Pairing the Cutest Little Sweater in grey with the 2-tier sculpted skirt in pink. What a beautiful job she did on both the sculpts and the belt textures! There is a cute little white lace layer that moves while you dance. Just love that!

Same outfit, but black for the sweater and brick red for the skirt. And then for a sizzling hot black bikini with the sheer tank option and stockings, the Wet n Wild set also from Sassy!

Also wanted to share with you the super-cute Venice Skinny Jeans and limited edition tattooed Chux, a group gift from Stellar. Worn here with the Sally Hair from Emotions, and the Cutest Little Sweater from Sassy! I feel like I should be riding a skateboard along Venice Beach.

In Search of Spring

Around here, winter has been teasing us with hints of Spring to come. But I just can't wait! That's one of the things I love about virtual worlds like InWorldz. You can just go, find it!

Whatever it is you're looking for, there's a good bet that some creative soul out there has already made it and is waiting for the intrepid explorer to come find and enjoy it.

That's why I'm so excited to share with you the beautiful Garden in Netheren created by Moontan Valeeva. Come, explore with me...

It's a peaceful place, filled with birdsong, the sound of trickling water, and gorgeous riots of flowers to entice you along the pathway.

You might find yourself lured by the magical sound of harp song.

Or the sound of wind dancing through the waterfall as you climb the hill for a better view.

What's that I see in the distance... Castle Nether! Now that's something that begs to be explored another time!

All this exploring can be tiring, so be sure to find a nice place by the gazebo pool to gaze into the waters and rest, or take a nap.

Or find a new perspective of the beautiful surroundings. You might even spy a few wild bunny rabbits scampering over the hills.

When you are done exploring, a boat waits upon the dock to carry you safely back home.

Feathers and Flurry

Are you ready yet? Equinox will be opening it's doors to welcome you to their very first Winter Masquerade Ball on Thursday, January 20th at 7:00pm (IWT).

Lucky us that have had all this extra time to search for the perfect gown or tux for the ball at Equinox. And hair, and makeup and skin, oh and shoes, and masks, oh my! All this shopping would be exhausting, if it were not so much fun.

In a flurry of dashing about the grid today, I managed to swing by M!raMode at Bellissima Square and saw that her latest group gift for January is there. Oh Joy! When I read her blog about the Plume gown, I knew I had to have it. Something alluring about the way the feathers brush the floor softly as I move, and the mysterious glamour of it all. I love it!

It's far more glamorous than I had imagined and I simply adore the details on the bodice and the feather accents on the chest. The opera length gloves are beautiful! I have paired the gown with the lovely white feather mask from Rahja Designs, and the glowing beautiful skin is indeed the latest Ethereal skin in Latte by Paparazzi, freshly arrived in her store today. The make-up layers for this skin will be coming soon, but the skin alone is so beautiful!

Taking a break from the winter scene and a much needed vacation to somewhere tropical. While searching for the perfect beachwear, my friends Chrystophur Silversmith and Heart Smith recommended the talented designer, Nikki Romano, and her Island Style shop, and sent me on a shopping spree!

Here's what I found. Feel the warm breeze, the scent of exotic flowers and coconuts. Come with me... to Island Style.

The first dress is the elegant and very stylish Maroon Hawaiian Gown, also known as the MuuMuu. It comes with sculpted sleeves and a beautiful and delicate white sculpted Lei and makes you feel right at home in an Island Paradise.

Feel the sun on your shoulders in this amazing Blue and White Sarong set, with sculpted bikini top.

When you're ready to take a dip in the pool, the sarong set bikini and thong is just the thing you need.

I had to have the Orange and Fuschia Lei and paired it with the Brown and Pink bikini for a more festive Beach Party look.

Sauntering through Chrys and Heart's tropical paradise "The Dream" on Orky Island, wearing another great style from Island Style - the blue and white Hawaiian Short Dress, and wearing the Lei from the maroon gown, I feel as if I'm in a dream. The fluffy blue clouds drifting softly overhead, and the sound of a lighthouse nearby.

I feel so at peace here...

Heart and Chrys invited me to come stay with them at their extra guest house on their estate at The Dream on Orky Island! I'm so excited! I tried to get a better picture, but my graphic card is doing funny things and Heart's legs were invisible.. sorry Heart! I really love my new home at the Dream and thank you so much for being my friends, and the best family I could ever have dreamed of. I love you both!

If you have not been to Heart's studio and art gallery yet, you can find her at Picture Perfect on The Dream estate at Orky Island. Please forgive my blurry picture.. I waited a good 20 minutes but my old dying graphic card just would not draw in all the textures and sculpts right.

I spent the last few days on the other side of the icy cold Sierra mountains, without a computer, so today after recovering from the harrowing slippery drive back, I have been catching up on what has been happening in InWorldz while I was gone. It's Wednesday and the last day to post something for the 5th Whiskey Challenge, so after reading some great posts from other InWorldz bloggers, I'm trying to think of something to share that hasn't already been said.

Week Five Challenge: Since 2011 is mere moments away, it’s natural to look back at last year and look forward to next. For our challenge, let’s do both. Choose your favorite post ofanother InWorldz blogger and post a link at your blog. Then post 5 (or more) predictions for InWorldz. The rules are yours to make- just have fun writing!

Predictions never really were my strong point. I'm a "roll with it" kind of gal, so I don't usually hold out for wishing things were a certain way, or trying to guess where we'll go. Part of that is the delight I have in watching our world of InWorldz evolve. Watching new worlds, new cities, new malls, and forests and fantastical visions of people's creations come to life. It's just Magical!

Of course, with any new virtual world, there are people and places that come and go, often slipping silently into the night, before we even realize they are gone. One of the early places I blogged about, the City of Nephilim, is sadly one of these places that has just disappeared into thin air. Another, is a truly profound and beautiful person named Ayla Holt, who has inspired and shared so much with the people of InWorldz. She will be deeply missed by many.

When I joined InWorldz, I thought, ok this will be fun. I can start over fresh, make a new "me", explore and meet some new people and just see where it goes. Little did I know that joining InWorldz would be a catalyst to launching some of my own hidden dreams into reality. It all started with a blog post by Whiskey Day that I had read about on the InWorldz Forums. Little did she know how much her post would inspire the people of InWorldz! If you haven't been watching and reading the new blogs and bloggers, you're missing out. Take a look at the blog rolls on the side column of your favorite bloggers, and see what's happening in this big beautiful world of ours.

I had been reading Whiskey's blog and a few of the other InWorldz blogger pioneers for awhile, mostly learning about new places to explore, and of course new fashion to go buy and enjoy! She was (and is) one of my favorite bloggers and I always admired her incredible style, witty personality, and her innate ability to inspire people.

After reading her very first InWorldz blogger challenge, I launched into action. I dug up the dregs of my old fashion blogging fantasy that I had buried long ago when SL had lost the spark for me, and re-invented it. I created a brand new blog, with the first post being my response to the Whiskey Challenge. Next thing, I'm caught up in a whirlwind of meeting people and going places, and fabulous parties, and before I knew it, I was creating new fashions of my own and opening a shop at Equinox by Thanksgiving, only a few weeks after that first post.

All in all, it's been a huge success, and a journey that I am incredibly thankful for. Which brings me to the next part of the Whiskey Challenge and my 5 predictions for the future in InWorldz.

1. THE END OF BETA - Here's where I pile in all the technical guesses like, a more stable platform (It's already better than SL in my experience!), Mesh, Physics, Voice. But these anyone can guess and have already expounded upon before.

2. FASHION HISTORY - The Fashion World of InWorldz will really take off, with never heard before new designers coming out of the woodwork and drawing the gaze and appreciation of people from all around. It will be a time of a great Renaissance in virtual fashion, with all eyes turning to the InWorldz stage. While I wander through the shops of InWorldz I see some of the "big names" that came over from "other grids", but more and more I am continually floored by the sheer talent that our local InWorldz designers have.

3. 200,000 RESIDENTS with 1000 online at a time. We're already growing exponentially. When I joined there were something like 5000 users and at any one time, usually 25 people were online. Today we have about 27,000 users and about 140 online. Going up!

4. 2000 TOTAL REGIONS, and counting! Last I heard we were at about 750 regions already, and growing! Hey Lucy... we have some s'plorin to do!

5. TRUTH Hair - Truth Hair will come to InWorldz! Ok, OK! This one is sheer fantasy on my part and not based in any kind of fact at all, just wishful thinking! I can dream right?! Alright I know I said I don't hold out for wishing things were a certain way, but pretty, Pretty Please?!

5. WORLD PEACE - Here's where I get to sound like some kind of cheesy Miss Universe contestant. That's right! We're actually all going to figure out how to get along. And puppy dogs for everyone! Well okay, those of us already InWorldz already know how to get along, but it's our job to help the newcomers realize that this just isn't like the "other grids". It's kind of fun sitting back and watching the frantic frenetic energy around some of the new arrivals as they rush to get pretty and figure out the pecking order, only to realize there isn't one, and that they can completely relax and be themselves. InWorldz Peace - It's a beautiful thing!

Our time here in this virtual world, is a blink of brilliance, a shooting star that streaks silently across the sky, amazing in it's complexity, and yet so profound in it's simplicity. We may never pass this way again, so make the most of it!

I've been burning the midnight oil... to bring you a lovely new ballgown... Fire and Ice

Dripping with fire and soothed by cooling ice, she found herself as if in a dream, wandering and drifting through the crisp wintery landscape of Equinox. There among the refreshingly beautiful ice sculptures, she found her peace, her warmth, in the company of a heart full of friendship.

There are some things that warm us to the core no matter how chilly it is outside.

A Shiny Solstice from ~TMD~

Upon logging in to InWorldz, I typically will scroll through all my group announcements and see what's new out on the grid and where I can go explore. This time, my eye was caught by an announcement from ~TMD~ Tastefully Made Designs.

Not only do they provide a gorgeous shopping experience in a large elegant shop floating high above Kismet, but there are some lovely new shiny jewels for you to enjoy, necklaces, sets, crowns, rings and wedding bands, as well as intricately carved medieval and renaissance style furniture.

While browsing the shop, Chas Dezno, the lovely designer of the jewelry, invited me to the ~TMD~ group for updates, and also let me know that the main Kismet sim that their shop floats above at 2000 meters would be opening in about a month. I snuck down below to peek around and saw a few beautiful buildings in progress, a fairytale perfect cottage, a castle, and the most royal four poster bed with beautiful brocade coverlets. I made a mental note to go back there when they finally open!

Chaz also announced that today for Solstice, they have discounted the Fae jewelry sets to half price!

There are some lovely colors to choose from, but I am showing off the Cerise which caught my eye and had to go home with me. Also there, I fell in love with the "April" necklace which Chas will be making earrings to match very soon.

Eyes For You and the Whiskey Challenge #4

As part of the Whiskey Challenge #4 we were asked what advice we would give to a new InWorldz blogger. Where to begin! I guess one of the most important things I think, without sounding trite I hope, is "Be Yourself". When you think of it, a Blog is just a "Web Log" and really doesn't have to have any particular guidelines at all. Just write what you want, share things you have an interest in, follow a theme if you feel like it. I usually tie all my writings into Fashion, whether by sharing what skin, hair, eyes, clothes I'm wearing, or whatnot. You can write short witty remarks, if you're short and witty *wink*, or long prolific insightful posts, if that's the way you like to express yourself. Or, you could write not one single word and only post pictures.

We've all got something to share, something to express, or just want to focus on helping people out by writing about your experiences and things you've found along the way, whether in our real daily lives or virtual (which is really the same thing, if you really think about it). Some people write, as a kind of journal to get things off their chest. Others write to inspire, or to teach.

Me, well I'm not witty, prolific, or particularly inspiring, but I do like to share, in hopes that something I've come across may be helpful to someone else.

As an example, a few friends and I were standing around the Community Giving Tree at the Lodge at Equinox on the Dream e'Scapes sim in InWorldz. We chatted about all kinds of things, and had a few new friends on a tour with us that were new to InWorldz. One friend was lamenting the selection of eyes and wanted desperately to find some nice blue eyes that "don't make me look like a werewolf". Sooo.... I wondered what that meant, and thought, it could be the kind of eyes that are all bloodshot for that more "realistic" look. Also, some of the eyes out there have very dark shading that make them look sunken and sickly. Well you can't always tell with eyes that you see in the ads, because once your avatar is wearing them and your AO kicks in, you may hold your head and move your eyes in ways that are not the most flattering for that kind of eye.

So, I decided to go out and take a look at what kinds of eyes were out there in InWorldz, and maybe help my friend along the way. While searching, it struck me how very many different shades of the color blue are out there. Some are more greenish blue, some grey, some hints of purple, some pale, some intense, some with more realistic highlights, some with a more cartoon or anime look. Here's a few that I found, and I hope there's something here you might enjoy.

Whiskey Challenge #3 - New Grit

Sometimes you need a little shaking up to snap out of your online habits. That's what the 3rd week in the Whiskey Blogger Challenge was for me. The idea this week was to find somewhere you had never been before, something out of the normal spots you hang out and that make you happy InWorldz, and snap a picture or ten. I snapped ten.

So, leaping out into the great unknown, I stumbled upon this hidden gritty little gem of a city called "Nephilim". It is built with details down to the gritty, grungy textures that really make you feel immersed in the scene. Let's start our tour in the warehouse district and go from there.

There is also a nice little freebie area on the second floor of the skyscrapers that had a few things you might like. I'm only showing the tennis shoes, jeans, and skin that I found there, but there are also some great sculpted BOOTS for both guys and ladies, and some nice purses. It's all in italian though, so you just have to go see what you like.

While there were a few hangout locations, apartments, the makeshift bar above the pawn shop, and the nightclub in the old cathedral, I didn't run into anyone there other than one friend I tp'd to come take a look. It would really make a great place for a fashion show or photo shoot as there are so many great spots to take pictures.
